Strategic Consulting for parties intending to represent themselves in BC FAMILY LAW DISPUTES

This service equips you with the strategy, clarity, and mental readiness needed to navigate family law conflict on your own.

You’ll learn how the BC system works, the pros and cons of each dispute‑resolution path, and how to choose the approach that best protects your long‑term interests.

We break down your situation, identify your strongest moves, anticipate the other party’s tactics, and build a clear plan for negotiation, mediation, or court. You’ll learn how to communicate with precision, stay grounded under pressure, and avoid the common mistakes self‑represented parties make.

This is strategic preparation, not legal advice, designed to help you move through your dispute with confidence, control, and a plan that supports the well‑being of your entire family, including the children who aren’t in the room.

You walk away equipped, focused, and ready for what comes next.

TESTIMONIALS on my Strategic Consulting

IMMENSELY VALUABLE!

“I engaged the conflict‑resolution consulting with Marcia, and the experience proved immensely valuable. The guidance helped me comprehend and navigate the complex disputes that emerged from my separation and divorce, situations that had become overwhelmingly difficult. Even minor disagreements involving the children now trigger legal escalation, leading to anger, disappointment, and mental distress. Despite this turbulence, this consulting taught me how to position myself effectively, resulting in a marked reduction in my anxiety and stress levels. The support I received was truly indispensable.” Carolina D. (Vancouver, Canada)

I LEARNED TO COMMUNICATE EFFECTIVELY.

“My communication with my ex-wife was terrible; we even used our daughter as a weapon against each other. After hiring the conflict resolution consultation with Marcia, I learned to communicate with her effectively.” MARCUS B., (Kelowna, BC Canada)

I FELT HEARD!

“I found every second of the conflict resolution consultation with Marcia extremely valuable because all the coaching I received was super important in resolving the conflict I was experiencing. During the consultation I felt heard; I had my questions answered and I was able to receive valuable consultancy that brought to my reflection all the actions I was thinking about taking motivated by negative emotions and that could harm the negotiations. Basically, every piece of advice I received from these consultation was extremely valuable.” GABRIELA.S (Vancouver Island, BC, Canada)

Resolution Powered by Global Insight and Mindfulness.

ALL‑IN‑ONE Guidance: From Courtroom Challenges to Everyday Conflicts. As a strategic conflict consultant, mediator, and mindful dispute resolution educator, Marcia Chorney specializes in helping people navigate conflicts, whether legal disputes arising from separation and divorce, other family matters, or conflicts with themselves. She advocates for mindful negotiation strategies that consider all factors related to a dispute, including human factors, to generate truly satisfactory results for all parties involved, protecting the mental well-being of professionals and those involved in the conflict. As an internationally recognized pioneer advocating for the intersection of conflict resolution, mental health, and alleviating the burden on the judicial system, and an influencer in this field, she champions the application of mindfulness not only in conflict resolution but in all decision-making processes. As a Mental Health Ambassador and Social Impact Catalyst, she founded Mindful Negotiators, where she brings together influential leaders from the legal and business sectors, designing creative and engaging initiatives that transform power into purpose.

My Family Mediation Practice

In my family mediation practice, I work exclusively in a 100% shuttle-style format, both in person and online. I combine the Mindful Negotiators technique with an evaluative, proactive, and compassionate approach, always with the goal of achieving full settlement in every case. A core part of my role is identifying the hidden obstacles that quietly stall negotiations. These barriers are often unspoken, and recognizing them requires intuition and emotional discernment. This comes naturally to me. I can sense emotional undercurrents through people’s words, even when they are not explicitly expressed. Paired with my training in emotional intelligence, this ability allows me to offer assertive, precise, and well‑timed suggestions during the negotiation phase. This approach has proven highly effective, resulting in full settlement in virtually all my mediations. My mindful, settlement‑focused method helps families reach agreements that are not only practical but genuinely satisfying for everyone involved. My practice focuses on family law conflicts, including disputes between married couples, siblings, parents and children, separation and divorce matters, and post‑divorce parenting challenges. At the heart of my work is a commitment to the mental and emotional well‑being of the whole family, not just those at the table.

TESTIMONIALS on my MEDIATION skills

FIRM AND ASSERTIVE

"Marcia inspires respect and trust for the parties using her verbal and non-verbal language appropriately. Her role as a mediator is that of a neutral person who conducts the session without deciding and making the parties actively participate in the search for the best solutions to their conflicts. She leads the parties to understand that it is possible to resolve conflicts peacefully and quickly, demonstrating her problem-solving skills with clear and creative imagination.

Marcia remains impartial throughout the session, respecting the different points of view.

She has the ability to be firm and assertive when the situation requires it, as she is aware of the moments when intervention is needed to help the parties in the dialogue, demonstrating to be a facilitator of the process, leaving the parties at ease to talk about their pain, emotions, and thoughts so that, in the end, they can come to a mutually acceptable agreement.

Marcia possesses great interpersonal understanding and intelligence, as well as the ability to demystify and simplify human problems, along with the ability to be calm, balanced, and considerate in the face of hostility and tension.

In general, the mediation sessions conducted by Marcia are flexible, non-directive, and non-judgmental, respecting the autonomy of the clients."

Cynthia Rolim -  Mediator

EXCELLENT ATTITUDE

"Marcia has an excellent attitude during Mediation sessions and conducts them very well without losing focus on the object of the dispute and without losing control of the situation during periods of tension. She establishes a good connection with the parties thereby allowing them to trust her during the journey. Marcia uses mediation techniques extremely well, especially the reality test. Being objective and maintaining control were the points that most caught my attention when watching Marcia's mediation sessions."
